A couple of weeks ago, my cousin sent me a hat in the mail with a note. On the hat is an image of a woman walking, only her legs from the knees down visible, heels on her feet, stepping on and over a red hat - subtle, but powerful. In the note she says, “I pray the election turns out how I know we both want it to,” after telling me to ignore the other side of the paper as it was a journal prompt she did with her students - she’s a teacher.
Curious, I turned over the primary-ruled paper fit for perfecting your letters in the first grade and found the crossed-out prompt from October 10th, “We cry because…” I laughed because it couldn’t have been more fitting looking ahead to today’s election.
Eight years ago, I thought his first presidential campaign was over with a capital ‘O’ when the tape of his “locker room talk” was leaked. "I don't even wait. And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. ... Grab 'em by the pussy. You can do anything."
